Abstract

|
Surfactant therapy is now the standard of care for infants either at a risk for respiratory distress syndrome(RDS) or after the development of RDS. However, accurate diagnosis and prediction of RDS are not always easy, and the optimal method of RDS management has not yet been established. In this section, some issues regarding the diagnosis of RDS and also issues regarding the optimization of surfactant therapy for RDS, based on our 15-year experience of surfactant therapy, will be discussed.
